  • BIG WIN FOR PREGNANT WOMEN WHO WORK IN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI

    To bring reasonable accommodations for pregnant employees within the Kansas City, MO, city limits, the KCMO City Council passed an amendment to Chapter 38, Code of Ordinances, to support the health and economic security of pregnant workers within the city limits and prohibit discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations, enforced by the Kansas City Department of Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity.

    In late 2022, Congress passed The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) providing standard and reasonable accommodations for workers with pregnancy-related limitations. Such limitations and accommodations include more frequent and longer breaks, reassigning tasks that may include heavy lifting, or changing work schedules to avoid long hours.
